Rick Honaker - Head Coach

22 years. 5+ programs. 1 Home.

A Campbell County alumnus and former Camel standout, Head Coach Rick Honaker returns home with a singular vision for the future of the program. His journey has come full circle from the Friday night lights of Alexandria to the collegiate sidelines, bringing home a master-level understanding of the game forged through over two decades of high-stakes competition. With a legacy built on a foundation of diverse experience across the high school and collegiate ranks. His coaching philosophy was sharpened through tenures at Heidelberg University and Thomas More, where he both played and coached at an elite level. On the high school stage, he has led and developed talent across the region at Ryle and Gallatin County, as well as building a powerhouse presence in Savannah, Georgia, at New Hampstead High School.

These stops have culminated in a deep, personal passion for the Campbell County community and a firm belief in the transformative power of athletics. He prioritizes the long-term growth of every young man who wears the Purple and Gold, leading a program built on brotherhood and resilience. Under his leadership, Camel Football is driven by a core belief that when the unit is strong, success is inevitable. For Coach Honaker, it isn't just about building a team; it’s about honoring the Camel tradition and building the family.

Russel harden - Defensive Coordinator

Russell Harden is the definition of program loyalty and defensive resilience. A Camel through and through, Harden played his high school ball at Campbell County alongside Coach Honaker, forging a bond built in the same turf they now lead from. With nearly two decades of coaching experience across only two programs, his career is a testament to stability and a dig in mentality that is rare in the modern game.

While his roots are deep in the classic fundamentals of physical, blue-collar defense, Harden is a master of adaptation. He brings a crafty, analytical mind to the sideline, with scheme that remains fundamentally sound. As the mentor to our defensive staff, his leadership ensures that while the tools may change, the standard of Camel Defense never wavers. If the offense is our engine, Coach Harden is the frame that holds it all together.

Ryan Luster - Wide receivers coach

Bringing a championship pedigree and a heart for mentorship, Ryan Luster leads the Camel wide receivers with a focus on elite execution and selfless play. A standout athlete from Northern Kentucky’s own Ryle High School, Coach Luster took his talents to the national stage at Mount Union University, one of the most storied and successful programs in collegiate football history.

Coach Luster’s approach is defined by a deep sense of gratitude for the game and the opportunities it provides to build character. He is dedicated to passing that perspective down to his players. By combining technical precision at the receiver position with a positive, unified mindset, Coach Luster ensures our perimeter play is as disciplined as it is dangerous. He is honored to be a part of the Campbell County family and is committed to crafting the next generation of Camel playmakers.

Colten Hoskins - Quarterback Coach

Every elite unit needs a heartbeat, and Colten Hoskins provides the rhythm for the Camel offense. A former Campbell County Quarterback himself, Coach Hoskins is a true program loyalist who stood by the Purple and Gold through every peak and valley of the last decade. His commitment to Alexandria is personal, and his return to the sidelines as a teacher and coach ensures the Camel tradition is passed down by someone who has lived it.

In the high pressure world of quarterback play, Hoskins serves as the staff’s funny bone. the essential element that keeps the unit loose and the energy high. He balances technical signal-caller development with a unique ability to find the levity in the grind, ensuring his players remain resilient under fire. By combining his deep knowledge of the position with a relentless wit, he builds quarterbacks who are as mentally tough as they are technically sound. In the QB room, he doesn't just coach the play; he manages the mindset.

Preston Murray - Tight end Coach, Freshman OC

If the standard requires a spark, Preston Murray is a high-voltage energy behind it. Serving as the Freshman Offensive Coordinator and the position coach for the Tight Ends and H-Backs, Coach Murray brings a boisterous, vocal intensity to every rep. Currently in the early chapters of what he intends to be a lifelong coaching career, he brings a relentless enthusiasm to the daily grind that is infectious to players and peers alike. By combining high-volume energy with a deep focus on the heavy lifting positions of the offense, he ensures that our youngest athletes learn to compete with both technical skill and an unbreakable spirit.

Paul McKee - Running Back coach

If football is a game of endurance, Paul McKee is its greatest living testament. Known as the man who has been everywhere in his legendary athletic tenure, Coach McKee brings a depth of wisdom to the Camel sidelines that can only be forged through decades of high-level competition. He remains the program’s ultimate engine, proving every day that the passion for the grind has no expiration date.

A dual-sport mentor who also serves as an assistant for the Track and Field program, Coach McKee specializes in the explosive mechanics and relentless drive required of elite Running Backs. He is the embodiment of the program’s history and its future, offering a master-class in resilience and discipline to every athlete he coaches. To have Coach McKee on the whistle is to have a direct link to the iron-clad fundamentals of the game. His presence ensures that while the sport evolves, the standard of toughness required remains unbreakable.

JT Taylor serves as the critical link between the youth ranks and the Varsity Architects. Another Campbell County Alum with over two decades of coaching experience, Taylor has dedicated his career to the development of Camel athletes long before they ever put on a high school jersey. As the Head Coach of the 8th-grade program, he is the first to instill the culture of discipline and brotherhood that defines Alexandria football.

A whatever it takes kind of leader, Coach Taylor is the definition of sacrificial coaching. Whether he’s assisting with the Outside Linebackers or volunteering to step into the line of fire during a tackling drill, his commitment to the growth of his players is absolute. Off the field, his influence is just as vital; as a local small business owner, he serves as a powerhouse advocate for the program, bridging the gap between the local economy and the athletic department to ensure our athletes have the resources they need to succeed. He doesn't just build players; he builds the community that supports them.

JT Taylor - Assistant Outside Linebacker coach, 8th grade head coach

Dan Pangburn - Equipment manager, Kicker Coach

Dan Pangburn is the essential piece of the puzzle behind the scenes of the program. As the Equipment and Kickers Coach, Dan ensures that the Camel machine runs without friction. From the technical precision of the kicking game to the safety and security of every athlete on the roster, his work allows the rest of the staff and players to maintain a singular focus on the goal at hand.

Coach Pangburn is the primary guardian of player safety, managing the distribution of top-tier equipment, including the latest in helmet technology and protective Guardian Caps. His leadership is defined by a no man left behind mentality. Whether it’s providing cleats and gear to athletes in need or fine-tuning a kicker’s mechanics to ensure they are ready to drill bombs under pressure, Dan’s focus is on the welfare of the unit. He is the ultimate Quartermaster, working tirelessly to ensure that every Camel is equipped for the grind and ready for the win.

Parker Clemons - Defensive Line coach

A graduate of Point University and a veteran of the professional gridiron, Parker Clemens brings an elite level of experience and intensity to the Campbell County staff. Following a standout collegiate career, Parker transitioned to the professional ranks, competing for the Salina Liberty of the Champions Indoor Football league.

Now leading our defensive line, he translates that professional-grade work ethic into a standard of excellence for the Camels. Coach Clemens is known for his fierce attention to technical detail, a disdain for player negativity, and a relentless demand for perfection in The Trenches. He is dedicated to developing defensive linemen who are technically sound, physically dominant, and fully committed to the We Over Me identity of the program.

Zach Deaton - Outside Linebacker Coach

Zach Deaton operates with a calculated, reserved demeanor that defines a professional in coaching. A man of few words but immense presence, he lets his discipline and focus do the talking during the week. However, the moment he steps onto the turf, the transformation is immediate. Coach Deaton is a Jekyll and Hyde competitor in the best sense, a coach who comes alive with a level of intensity and passion for the game that few can match.

That shift from quiet observer to high-octane leader is fueled by a pure, unfiltered love for the craft of coaching. Specializing in the Edge of the Camel defense, he instills that same controlled aggression in his outside linebackers, teaching them to be silent tacticians until the ball is snapped. For Coach Deaton, football isn't just a job; it’s a transformation. He ensures that his unit is prepared with the discipline of his Jekyll and the relentless fire of his Hyde.

Dustin Tymenski - Inside Linebacker Coach

Dustin Tymenski is the defensive staff’s primary driver of accountability. Having coached alongside Coach Honaker previously at Gallatin County, he brings a battle-tested perspective on what it takes to install a winning culture. As a "no-nonsense" leader, Coach Tymenski serves as the definitive voice of the standard—ensuring that every rep, every meeting, and every movement is executed with the intensity the program demands.

Specializing in the Inside Linebackers, he coaches his unit to be the command center of the defense. He is a direct, high-integrity communicator who isn't afraid to provide the hard truths necessary for growth, holding both players and peers to an elite level of discipline. By balancing the staff’s dynamic as an enforcer of the standards and ethics of our program, he ensures that the Camel defense remains technically sound and mentally unbreakable.

Chris Sanders - Defensive Back Coach

Chris Sanders brings the high-octane energy of Atlanta football and a Power-5 pedigree to the Campbell County secondary. A former standout at the D1 collegiate level and a top-ranked national prospect out of Georgia, Coach Sanders knows exactly what the elite grind looks like and he still lives it. His journey through the collegiate ranks is a testament to resilience, proving that elite success is built through perseverance and a relentless work ethic.

As a coach, Sanders is a lead-from-the-front mentor who isn't afraid to remind his players he’s still got it. Known for his immense physical prowess, he is a constant presence in the middle of the action, frequently stepping into drills to compete alongside his guys and show them just how it’s done. That no-slouch mentality and willingness to show off his technical skill adds a competitive spark to every practice.

Despite the intensity he brings to the turf, Sanders is the ultimate program ambassador. A servant-leader who sharpened his character through international mission work, he is the first man to greet the team with a smile every afternoon. He doesn't just coach the defensive backs; he models the professional spirit and the high-energy confidence required to win on the big stage.

Peyton Honaker - Assistant Lineman Coach, Freshman DC

For Peyton Honaker, Football is more than a program, it’s a family legacy. As the son of Head Coach Rick Honaker, Peyton serves as a vital bridge between the program’s storied past and its future. Operating in a master and apprentice dynamic, he is the youngest member of the staff. Currently being mentored by his father and the other incredible Architects on staff. Having navigated a journey where his own athletic aspirations took a different turn, Coach Peyton brings a powerful, real world perspective to the field. He understands that football is far more than a weeding out process for the next level. Rather, it is a laboratory for character. He believes athletics are centered on the total development of the young man by exposing them to the full spectrum of discipline, accountability, and mental toughness required to find success in the working world.

He specializes in the offensive and defensive lines with a knowledge of what is required in the trenches. He focuses on building a rock solid foundation of grit in his players, teaching them that the same resilience discovered on a hot practice field is the exact strength they will need to find when life gets tough. The goal isn't just to win. Instead, it’s to ensure that the newest Camels build an unbreakable spirit and a character they can build their lives upon long after the final whistle blows.
